Chili

Ingredients

  • 1.75 lbs 85%-90% lean ground beef
  • 1.5 cups green pepper, diced
  • 1.5 cups yellow onion, diced
  • 1 jalapeno, diced
  • 3 cloves worth of minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 0.75 cup of beef broth
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 10.5 oz can diced tomatoes & green chilis, drained
  • 10.5 oz can diced tomatoes & habanero peppers, drained
  • 10.5 oz can diced tomatoes & serrano peppers, drained
  • 1 can mixed beans (kidney, black, pinto), drained
  • 3 tbsp of chili powder
  • 2 tbsp of cumin
  • 2 tbsp of paprika
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • 1 tsp of salt

Steps

  1. Saute onion, green pepper, garlic, and jalapeno in the olive oil for 5 minutes. Put this mix in the crock pot.
  2. Cook ground beef in same pan until medium rare. Put it in the crock pot and stir.
  3. Add the spices, tomato sauce, diced tomato cans, & beef broth. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Cook on low for 4 hours, stirring every half hour, adding beans at 3 hrs.
  5. Enjoy with a cold beer, ice water, and sports!
  6. Optional: To take it down a notch: remove jalapeno, replace the two cans of diced tomato & spicy peppers with two cans of diced tomato & green chilis. Still savory and delicious.
